A foremost traditional ruler in Kwara State, The Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar has died after a brief illness.
The monarch, who died on Tuesday night in Abuja was buried on Wednesday by 2 pm according to Islamic rites.
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed deep shock over Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar’s death.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari said the late Etsu Patigi was a true promoter of peace and a symbol of unity to the entire Nupe speaking people in Kwara State and beyond, stressing that his death will create a wide vacuum which cannot be filled so soon.
He noted that the late Etsu was until his death, the Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council who had used his wealth of experience to promote the council through his numerous outstanding contributions.
“I received the news of his death as a rude shock. Etsu Chatta Umar was a peace-loving monarch whose penchant for growth and development of the emirate and state at large know no bound. We will surely miss him.
“I pray that Almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings, admit him into Al-Janatul Firdaus and give the family and the entire people of Patigi Emirate Council the fortitude to bear the great loss,” Alhaji Sulu-Gambari added.
