Southampton striker, Shane Long has scored the fastest goal in the history of the English Premier League after finding the back of the net against Watford in just 7.69 seconds.
The record was previously held by former Tottenham Hotspurs defender, Ledley King who took just 9.82 seconds to score against Bradford City in December 2000.
That 18-year-old record was however erased by the 32-year-old Long on Tuesday night as he found the net straight from kick-off in their middle-of-the-table clash against Watford which ended in a 1-1 draw.
As soon as Watford kicked off the game, the ball was rolled back to centre-back, Craig Cathcart but as he tried to play it forward, his clearance was intercepted by the on-rushing Long.
The striker was then clean through on goal with only Ben Foster to beat and he made no mistake, sliding the ball past the hapless Watford goalkeeper.
Many supporters at Vicarage Road were not even seated when Long found the net for the third time in his last four top-flight appearances for Southampton.
