The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday interrogated the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori on issues bordering on records of finances of the federal legislature.
Sani-Omolori was reportedly grilled for over six hours by officials of the anti-graft agency at its headquarters in Abuja. They thereafter seized his international passport.
Apart from initial questions on records of finances of the National Assembly, it was learnt that the CNA was asked a specific question on the method of election of the presiding officers of the 9th National Assembly.
It was also gathered that other key officials of the National Assembly including the Clerk of the Senate, Clerk of the House of Representatives as well as their deputies would be invited to the Commission on Thursday.
A source close to Sani-Omolori further hinted that the CAN’s immediate predecessor, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa was equally quizzed over issues relating to the finances of the National Assembly.
It was further learnt that the duo answered questions pertaining to contracts awarded under their leadership and other financial matters.
