The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is investigating the outgoing Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of and some others.
The Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu stated this during an interview he granted Channels Television in London.
Asked if the Commission was investigating Okorocha, he responded: “Definitely. Of course, we are doing a couple of checks and investigations here and there. We are investigating almost everybody. Governor Okorocha is one of the many people being investigated by the commission.”
He noted that the Commission has to get to a certain level before it can disclose any information about an ongoing investigation, explaining that this was necessary to prevent any action that could jeopardize or interfere with the process of the inquiry.
While noting that he was aware of reports about the investigation on the social media, Magu disclosed that the details the EFCC is working on are different from what was being spread in the public space.
