Eleven skydivers have reportedly been killed in Hawaii after a plane which was carrying them crashed shortly after take-off.
Officials in Hawaii say there were no survivors in the crash which occurred near Dillingham Airfield on Oahu’s north shore.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident to find the twin engine King Air plane engulfed in flames.
Initial findings by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) suggested that the crash happened as the plane was taking off.
Hawaii Fire chief, Manuel Neves said some family members were at the airport as the flight took off, adding that names of the victims of the tragic incident were yet to be released.
Describing the site of the crash as being quite a way away from the runway, Neves stressed that in his 40 years as a firefighter there in Hawaii, the accident remains the most tragic aircraft incident that they had ever experienced.
Officials initially said six people were on board the flight but the number was later confirmed to be 11.
