A Mercedes G-Wagon on the campaign convoy of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Musa Wada on Saturday ran into a kiosk in Idah and killed all four persons inside.
The Chief Administrator of Idah Local Government Area of the state, Hilary Amodu in a statement by his media aide, Idachaba Muhammed said the driver of the vehicle was reckless.
“This kind of reckless driving that has been going on in Idah in the name of political rallies is no longer going to be entertained,” Amodu was quoted as saying in the statement.
It was however gathered that the driver who was rescued by security men from being lynched by an angry mob and the passengers of the vehicle were in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.
Reacting to the incident, the Publicity Secretary of the Musa Wada/Aro Campaign Organization, Faruk Adejoh said only two people died in the accident while one was injured.
“Accidents do happen, but it is sheer mischief for anyone to ascribe it to recklessness. No one prays for such a calamity,” Adejoh said.
