A total of 31 people were killed by hoodlums in two separate attacks in Zamfara on Tuesday.
Twenty-nine of them were killed by bandits at Babban Rafi village in Gummi Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday. Two health workers at Makosa village in Zurmi Local Government Area were also killed by bandits on the same day.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Usman Nagoggo in January said no fewer than 6,319 people were killed by bandits in the state in 2019 alone.
Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle in a move to end banditry, in August last year, granted amnesty to repentant bandits, who released no fewer than 427 hostages after embracing the peace initiative of the state government.
However, and the amnesty notwithstanding, bandits’ attacks have continued across the state.
