The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has rejected United States President Donald Trump ‘s recently unveiled Middle East plan.
This was disclosed at a summit organised by the OIC on Monday to discuss the plan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s. The organisation, in a statement called on all member states not to engage with this plan or to cooperate with the US administration in implementing it in any form.
The OIC, a 57- member organisation is the second-largest intergovernmental organisation in the world after the United Nations.
President Donald Trump had said his proposed deal would ensure the implementation of a two-state solution, with a promise that Palestinians will have a state of their own with a new capital in Abu Dis, a suburb just outside Jerusalem.
Trump also said Jerusalem would be the ‘undivided capital’ of Israel. This is against the wishes of the Palestinians who want both occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank to be part of a future Palestinian state.
