A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, ordered an interim suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
Justice Danlami Senchi, in a ruling on an application for interlocutory injunction on Wednesday held that Oshiomhole should cease to occupy the position pending the determination of the substantive suit. Today’s ruling followed an application filed on January 16 by Mr Oluwale Afolabi asking the court to suspend the APC Chairman from acting in the capacity of his office since he had been suspended as a member of the party by the APC in Edo State.
Afolabi in his application also contended that Oshiomhole was yet to legally challenge his suspension. He then argued that since he has been suspended from the party, he cannot continue to enjoy the benefits that can only be enjoyed by a member of the party.
The court therefore held that the party wrongfully continued to retain him as its National Chairman while he is under suspension as a member of the party.
The judge, therefore, ordered Oshiomhole to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party and directed the party to cease acknowledging him in that regard.
He also ordered the party to deny him access to the APC party secretariat.
