Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, on Tuesday announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The President also confirmed that he is taking hydroxychloroquine as well as azithromycin as treatment.
Bolsonaro has previously downplayed the risks posed by the coronavirus, describing it as nothing more than “a little flu.” He also said that his past as an athlete would make him immune to the worst symptoms of the disease.
He had tested negative for COVID-19 thrice after several aides were diagnosed with the virus in March.
Brazil is one the countries worst hit by the coronavirus, with more than 1.6 million cases and more than 65,000 deaths.
