Not fewer than two persons reportedly lost their lives on Thursday in a clash between the Amotekun Corps and armed herdsmen in Ondo State.
The incident occurred at the Government Forest Reserve at Ago Sanusi, along Ute Road, near Owo which is the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area, at about 2.
An earlier skirmish between some farmers and the is said to have led to the bloody confrontation. herders’ earlier clash with informed the on Amotekun operatives.
According to the State Commander of Amotekun, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, ”Amotekun was called yesterday by some farmers that herdsmen had invaded the forest, and our men went there to douse the tension. The operatives were attacked as they arrived the scene. A farmer was killed and a vigilante member who was shot in the head by the herders also died. The operational vehicle of the Amotekun Corps was also burnt.
Adeleye expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be fished out and brought to book.
