The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said that the president, vice president and governors will be the first set of people to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
He said this was aimed at dousing the fears going around regarding the safety of the vaccines.
Speaking in Abuja with journalists, Alhaji Mohammed pleaded with religious leaders, political leaders, and elites to assure their followers that government would not introduce unsafe vaccines.
Meanwhile, the minister has hinted that government will also use celebrities in the TV industry and sports to push the campaign.
Mohammed equally added that government owes it as a point of duty to do more enlightenment campaigns to neutralise the effects of the conspiracies and remove fears from the people.
”Government has set a target of vaccinating at least 70 percent of Nigerians in the next two years, as vaccines remain the only sure way to protect the people,” he added.
