After about six days, the Leadership of Cattle and Foodstuff dealers under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria, AUFCDN, on Wednesday, called of their industrial action.
This means a resumed movement of food supplies from the north to the south.
Reports say the agreement was reached when the leadership of the trade union met with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in Abuja.
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode also attended the meeting.
In the south, prices of food commodities like pepper, tomatoes, beef, yam, amongst others, had gone over the roof with many groaning and complaining about the increase.
In the north, farmers complained bitterly as they watched their farm produce rot away, even as prices of foodstuffs also became very low.
The General Secretary, AUFCDN, Ahmed Alaramma, had said the President of the association, Mohammed Tahir, was with the Department of State Services over the blockade.
People and Power had earlier reported that the AUFCDN was demanding for the safety of Fulani herders in the south, as well as monetary compensation for losses suffered during the Shasha market crisis and the EndSARS protest.
