Mrs. Christiana Abiodun Abiiba is an icon of the Nursing profession in Nigeria. These several years, she has distinguished herself in active service. Today, she is Deputy Director of Nursing Services as well as the Apex Nurse at Alimosho General Hospital in Lagos State.

In the year 2004, Christiana Abiiba won the award of Best Nurse of the Year at General Hospital Lagos. She also won the recognition of Best Worker of the Year from the then Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Leke Pitan.

In 2012, the Rotary Club of Ikoyi pronounced her Best Worker of the Year. The following year, 2013, she was recognized and pronounced as Best Nurse of the Year by Alimosho General Hospital.

Under the Health Service Commission of Lagos State, she rose to the position of Assistant Director of Nursing Services in 2017. She was made Apex Nurse in 2018 and she occupies that position till date. It was in the Year 2021 that she was promoted to the status of Deputy Director of Nursing Services.

Born on December 27, 1964, Christiana Abiiba had her early education at Anglican Girls Primary School on Broad Street, Lagos. Thereafter, she attended Ajao Estate High School where she earned the West African School Certificate in 1984.

She went on to enroll at the Lagos State School of Midwifery on 1 – 9 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and became a Registered Midwife in 1990. In 1994, she graduated from Ogun State School of Nursing, Ijebu – Ode and achieved the status of Registered Nurse. Not yet satisfied with her attainment level in professional education, she went on to study for a degree in Nursing Science at the National Open University in Lagos. She graduated from there in 2012.

The young Christiana began her nursing career in 1994 when she joined the Lagos State Health Service Commission and was posted to Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos.

From March 20, 1999 to April 21, 2001, she was at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital. She worked at General Hospital, 1 – 3 Broad Street, Lagos from April 2001 to April 2013. She also served at Alimosho General Hospital between 2013 and 2018.

She was posted to Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital where she worked from August 20, 2018 to September 27, 2019. From there, she was posted back to Alimosho General Hospital where she currently serves in September 2019.

It is in recognition of her accomplishments in the field of Nursing that Mrs. Christiana Abiodun Abiiba was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award.
