The Presidential Election Petition Court has adjourned the pre-hearing of the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against President-elect Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The court has rescheduled the continuation of the pre-hearing to Thursday, May 18, 2023.
The PDP and Atiku are vehemently contesting the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The petition, marked CA/PEPC/05/2023, seeks to challenge the legitimacy of Tinubu’s victory.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, Bola Tinubu, and the APC have been listed as the 1st to 3rd respondents in the petition. The court proceedings commenced this morning, with Chris Uche (SAN), the counsel for Atiku and the PDP, expressing a keen interest in the matter.
