The Nigerian government has once again made significant strides in repatriating stranded Nigerians from the war-torn country of Sudan. Today, a total of 129 more Nigerians arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the nation’s capital, aboard the Tarco Airlines from Port Sudan.
Upon their arrival, the returnees were swiftly processed by government officials, who handed them returnee registration forms. The group consisted of 124 adults and five infants and was met by officials from various government agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, among others.
This latest group of returnees comes just 24 hours after the fourth batch was successfully airlifted from the North African country. It’s reported that the group left Port Sudan International Airport at 5:25 am on Sunday and arrived in Abuja at around 12:40 pm. In total, over 800 Nigerians fleeing the conflict in Sudan have now arrived in Abuja since Sunday.
The Nigerian government has been working tirelessly to ensure the safe repatriation of its citizens from Sudan, and this latest development is a clear indication of their commitment to the well-being of Nigerians both at home and abroad. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
