Earlier today, President Bola Tinubu presided over the official decoration ceremony for Nigeria’s newly appointed military service chiefs. The event marked their formal investiture into office.
Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja was decorated as Chief of Army Staff, while Rear Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar received their accoutrements as Navy and Air Force chiefs respectively.
President Tinubu had announced their appointments back on June 19th, selecting new security leadership to replace the outgoing chiefs who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The National Assembly rigorously screened the chiefs over the past weeks, ultimately confirming their appointments. As Commander-in-Chief, President Tinubu oversaw today’s time-honored decorations.
Draped in full ceremonial regalia, the service chiefs each accepted the great responsibility of directing Nigeria’s military and defense strategies at this crucial time.
The decorations mark the formal assumption of duties of the new chiefs. Their leadership, experience and vision will be instrumental in advancing the security of the nation in the years ahead.
