A small aircraft crashed earlier today in the Oba Akran area of Ikeja, Lagos, according to local emergency officials. The plane burst into flames upon impact, but remarkably all four people on board escaped alive.
Per reports, the aircraft suddenly came down in a residential part of Ikeja. The plane erupted in a fiery blaze as crews rushed to the scene. First responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the four occupants, including the pilot, were rescued and transported to a nearby hospital.
Details remain uncertain regarding the identity of the aircraft operator. Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also acknowledged the accident in a statement.
NEMA’s Ibrahim Farinloye reiterated that there were no fatalities from the dramatic crash as emergency personnel managed to pull all passengers to safety after the downed craft caught fire.
While an investigation into the causes and origins of the small plane remains ongoing, it appears extremely fortunate that no lives were lost in the dangerous Ikeja crash landing earlier today. Aviation authorities continue to piece together the circumstances around the alarming incident.
