President Bola Tinubu has his newly inaugurated cabinet ministers to meet the high expectations of Nigerians during their swearing-in ceremony on Monday at the Presidential Villa.
“I welcome you to the administration of Renewed Hope. We are in this boat (together); this is a vehicle and I am the driver. The entire Nigerians are watching as we navigate this vehicle. We have to do the job to meet the expectations of all Nigerians,” Tinubu maintained.
The president said the ministers were chosen for their experience in nation-building, but cautioned that the challenges ahead could be “very daunting.” The government remains committed to delivering renewed hope, he added.
“It is all about a great team and I believe we have them here. The greatest number of Nigerians are highly expectant. They believe that you will serve with integrity and deliver. I will hold you to account,” the president remarked.
Tinubu urged the ministers to restore faith in governance by serving with integrity. He noted their work begins immediately despite just being sworn in.
The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola at the ceremony attended by leaders like Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
This followed the Senate’s confirmation of 45 ministerial nominees out of 48 put forward by Tinubu. Key appointments include former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister and lawyer Festus Keyamo heading the Aviation Ministry.
Nigerians will be monitoring the new cabinet closely to see if it can deliver on pressing priorities like unemployment, inflation and insecurity. Tinubu admits the challenges are significant but expects his team to usher in a renewed hope.
