Nita-Nkese Adekusibe Odunfa is a Nigerian, British and Italian trained fashion designer who has proudly trained a lot of fashion designers who came to her without any prior knowledge in designing and have become owners of fashion businesses today.
Nita-Nkese is the CEO/Lead Instructor of Makadel School of Style and Design, a 100% Italian design fashion center based in Lagos which specialises in training on different aspects of fashion design, fashion illustration, patternmaking, luxury high fashion, luxury leather bag making, professional makeup and wig-making.
Nita is an entrepreneur who brings concepts and ideas alive through the act of training. She utilizes her creative skills and innovative ideas to contribute not only to her own development as a person but also to the development of the community as a whole.
Nita has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the Cross River University of Technology, Calabar, Nigeria; a diploma in fashion styling from an Italian fashion institute, Istituto di Moda Burgo, and another diploma from a British fashion school. She is a 2016 alumna of the Exxon Mobil/Cherie Blair Foundation scholarship program, “Road to Women’s Business Growth” from the Enterprise Development Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
She is also an alumna of the WomenX World Bank scholarship program (Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management) at the EDC, Pan-Atlantic University.
She is a 2022 Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) alumna and also a United States government exchange alumna.
She has impacted the knowledge of designs specifically by teaching (dressmaking ) in line with Care Aids Skills Acquisition program for junior and senior secondary schools.
Nita co-owns and runs an art gallery in Lekki, Lagos and Houston, Texas.
It is in recognition of her contribution to national development in the sphere of Quality Fashion Design and Fashion Design Education that Mrs Nita-Nkese Adekusibe Odunfa was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Woman of Merit Gold Award which is part of the PSR National Awards.
