The death toll resulting from the explosion that occurred in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state on Tuesday, January 16, has now reached five, according to the state government.
The blast, which caused significant damage to numerous houses, spanned a 14-kilometer radius. Governor Seyi Makinde provided an initial update on Tuesday, mentioning two deaths, with an additional victim succumbing in a hospital on Wednesday.
In a recent development on Thursday, Fatai Owoseni, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, stated that two more bodies have been recovered, bringing the total casualties to five. The rescue operation is still ongoing, with updates from security operatives and the medical team.
