The Supreme Court has validated the election of Bala Mohammed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor of Bauchi State. The apex court affirmed the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, dismissing the appeal brought forth by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking merit.
In November, the appellate court had already confirmed Governor Bala Mohammed’s victory in the governorship election held on March 18. This affirmation followed the tribunal’s earlier ruling, which upheld Mohammed’s success.
During the Court of Appeal judgment, the panel of three justices, in a unanimous decision, awarded no costs, stating that each party involved should bear their respective costs. Presiding judge Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa delivered the judgment in response to the appellant’s pleas before the appeal court.
One of the appellant’s pleas was to nullify the election due to alleged improper filling of forms and booklets used in the election. The court ruled that the appellant failed to substantiate this allegation with the necessary evidence.
