The Ondo State government has inaugurated Dr. Olaide Adelami, formerly the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, as the new Deputy Governor of Ondo State. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held in Akure, the state capital, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the dissolution of the cabinet inherited from the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was carried out with sincerity.
Aiyedatiwa expressed that he holds no ill feelings or animosity toward anyone regarding the decision to dissolve the cabinet. He explained that the decision, made on January 24, was prompted by genuine responses to the people’s aspirations and the necessity to rejuvenate the administration for optimal performance. The governor underscored the need to minimize distractions associated with cabinet members and other appointees during an election year, as is the case in Ondo State.
He emphasized that the government’s priority is to ensure good governance is not compromised for individual political pursuits. Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of transparent and accountable leadership, urging the new deputy governor to serve diligently without discrimination.
Describing Dr. Adelami as a seasoned technocrat, administrator, philanthropist, and politician, Aiyedatiwa highlighted his significant contributions to the nation and Ondo State. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Adelami pledged unwavering loyalty to the governor and promised to collaborate closely to enhance the well-being of the people of the state. He vowed to leverage his extensive experience to contribute to the state’s transformation and appealed for support to entrench good governance.
