Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been elected as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum. The election took place on Monday during a closed-door meeting in Lagos, attended by all six governors from the South West states.
After over four hours of deliberations at the Lagos House, Alausa, Governor Sanwo-Olu, announced to the press that the decision was unanimous by the six governors. He emphasized that the forum stands against the agitation for Yoruba Nation and reassured citizens that the new minimum wage to be announced by the Federal Government will reflect true federalism.
The South West Governors’ Forum reaffirmed its commitment to state policing, adopted “Ise Wa Fun Ile Wa” as its anthem, and called on President Bola Tinubu to expedite the rehabilitation of all federal roads across the country. Additionally, Sanwo-Olu praised federal lawmakers for the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission bill aimed at bolstering economic growth and food security, urging its swift passage.
The meeting saw the attendance of Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Mr Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Senator Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.
