President Bola Tinubu has appointed Didi Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 14, 2024. This announcement was made on Wednesday by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale.
Walson-Jack’s appointment follows her tenure as a Federal Permanent Secretary, a position she has held since 2017. During her time as a permanent secretary, she served in various ministries, gaining extensive experience in civil service management.
“Mrs. Walson-Jack was appointed Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017 and has served in several Ministries,” said Ngelale in the statement.
Walson-Jack will succeed Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR, the current Head of the Civil Service, who is set to retire on August 13, 2024. Dr. Yemi-Esan’s retirement marks the end of her notable service in the role.
The new appointment is part of President Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective leadership within the country’s civil service, aiming to promote efficiency and accountability across federal agencies.
Walson-Jack’s extensive background in public administration and her leadership skills are expected to bring continued reforms and improvements to the civil service as she takes on her new role.
