On Wednesday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) initiated the airlift of election materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Benin, Edo State, in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, issued a statement affirming that the airlift operation is part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure the timely and secure delivery of sensitive materials crucial for the election’s smooth conduct. He highlighted that this operation underscores the strong collaboration between the NAF and INEC, aimed at streamlining logistics and promoting a peaceful electoral process in Edo State.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, recently reaffirmed NAF’s dedication to supporting INEC during a meeting with INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu. This commitment aligns with the NAF’s constitutional duty to provide military aid to civil authorities, ensuring the swift and efficient movement of electoral materials.
