Governor Nyesom Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over allegations of anti-party activities. This was disclosed by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, during an appearance on Channels Television’s *Sunrise Daily* on Monday.

Abdullahi revealed that Wike has been called to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee, which is led by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi. The committee was established by the party’s National Working Committee to address issues of anti-party behavior and other internal disputes.

“Three weeks ago, we set up two committees, one for reconciliation and another for discipline. Nyesom Wike is one of the individuals scheduled to face the disciplinary committee,” Abdullahi stated. “We’ve received numerous petitions accusing Wike and others of sabotaging the party, particularly during the primaries. These petitions have been forwarded to the committee for review.”

Abdullahi also criticized Wike’s recent remarks threatening to “put fire in their states” in reference to PDP governors, calling his statements “disappointing” and “unacceptable.” He emphasized that Wike’s words were not in line with the party’s values.

Wike’s summoning comes shortly after he expressed satisfaction with his role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite facing backlash from PDP members. Over the weekend, Wike threatened to cause political turmoil in any state where a PDP governor interfered with the party’s affairs in Rivers State.

Additionally, Wike dismissed criticism of his involvement in the Tinubu government, telling detractors to “go and hug a transformer.”
