The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has reported that operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken control of its Abuja office. In a statement shared on its official X handle on Monday, SERAP condemned the action as an “unlawful occupation” by the security agency.
According to SERAP, DSS officers are demanding to meet with the organisation’s directors. The group has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and instruct the DSS to end what it describes as harassment and intimidation.
“Officers from Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) are presently unlawfully occupying SERAP’s office in Abuja, asking to see our directors,” the statement reads. “President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation, and attack on the rights of Nigerians.”
