The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of all seven ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu last week for accelerated consideration.
The screening exercise was held at the Senate on Wednesday, after being postponed on Tuesday. The Senate suspended its rules to admit the nominees.
The confirmed appointees are:
- Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
- Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu – Minister of State Foreign Affairs
- Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
- Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry
- Idi Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
- Yusuf Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development
- Suwaiba Ahmad – Minister of State Education
During the screening, the nominees were asked questions on how to effectively run their designated ministries, which they answered to the satisfaction of the Senators.
Last week, President Tinubu had sacked five ministers, reassigned 10 ministers to new portfolios, and appointed seven new nominees for Senate confirmation.
