Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled February 18, 2025, for the arraignment of former Senator Andy Uba, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, over alleged ₦400 million fraud.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, filed a two-count charge against Uba, accusing him of defrauding George Uboh, whose petition led to the legal action.
Also named as co-defendants in the suit are Crystal Chidinma Uba and Benjamin Etu, while another alleged accomplice, Hajiya Fatima, remains at large.
According to the IGP, the defendants conspired in 2022 to deceive Uboh by claiming they could secure the managing directorship of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for ₦400 million. The police assert that the defendants were aware the claim was false.
The charges are framed under Section 8, punishable by Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act of 2006.
