The Federal Government announced Thursday that it has disbursed the ₦25,000 conditional cash transfer to 25 million Nigerians as part of efforts to ease economic hardships. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, shared the update while addressing State House Correspondents after the National Economic Council meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Edun highlighted several relief measures introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to support Nigerians facing challenges due to subsidy removal and ongoing policy reforms. He stated that the direct cash transfer program has already reached five million households.
Additionally, Edun revealed that, under the consumer credit scheme, ₦3.5 billion has been distributed to 11,000 beneficiaries within the past five days. He further reported that over ₦90 billion has been allocated to support 500,000 Nigerian students through the student loan program.
