President Bola Tinubu will travel to France on Wednesday for a three-day state visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will be officially received on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides military museum and the Élysée Palace in Paris. Macron and his spouse, Brigitte, will host Tinubu and Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for a series of ceremonies and bilateral meetings.
The visit aims to strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations between Nigeria and France, with a focus on key areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition.
“Both leaders will engage in political and diplomatic discussions highlighting shared values and cooperation in finance, solid minerals, trade and investments, and communication,” the statement read. Tinubu and Macron will also attend a session of the France-Nigeria Business Council, which facilitates private sector contributions to economic development.
While in Paris, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Brigitte Macron are expected to discuss initiatives to empower women, children, and vulnerable populations, particularly through Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
The visit will conclude with a state dinner hosted by President Macron before Tinubu’s departure. Senior Nigerian government officials will accompany the President and First Lady on this important diplomatic trip.
