The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, conducted between November 14 and December 14, 2024. The announcement was made on Friday, February 14, 2025, by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi.
A total of 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, with 84,799 sitting for it. Among them, 44,277 were males, representing 52.21%, while 40,522 were females, accounting for 47.78%. The results showed that 57,114 candidates, representing 67.35%, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. In English Language, 62,929 candidates, or 75.62%, secured credit and above, while 77,988 candidates, representing 93.93%, achieved credit and above in Mathematics.
NECO also reported a 27.7% reduction in examination malpractice cases, with 6,160 candidates found culpable compared to 8,518 cases recorded in 2023. As a result, seven supervisors have been recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision and aiding malpractice, while 14 examination centers have been blacklisted for widespread misconduct across nine subjects.
Candidates can check their results by visiting www.neco.gov.ng and entering their examination registration numbers. Prof. Wushishi expressed appreciation to the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and other stakeholders for their continuous support. He reaffirmed NECO’s commitment to maintaining examination integrity and ensuring a timely results release process.
