Dr. Folasade Oluseye Fadare is an accomplished physician, public health expert, and a transformational hospital administrator. Her career spans more than three decades of remarkable service in Nigeria’s health sector.
Widely respected for her leadership in health facility management, she has built a legacy defined by clinical excellence, institutional renewal and an unwavering dedication to strengthening healthcare delivery for communities across Lagos State .
An alumna of Olabisi Onabanjo University, where she earned her MBChB, Dr. Fadare further advanced her expertise with a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Lagos. She is a graduate of the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (NFELTP), Abuja which is one of the country’s most rigorous platforms for disease surveillance and outbreak response. She also holds a Leadership and Management Certificate from the University of Washington and is an alumna of the School of System Change, UK (Basecamp), where she trained in health system transformation and multidisciplinary problem-solving.
Dr. Fadare began her medical career as a Medical Officer at the District Health Unit in Ilorin following her NYSC. There, she demonstrated early leadership capacity, overseeing facility operations and contributing significantly to the upgrading of the centre into a Children’s Specialist Hospital, Centre Igbo-Oro, Ilorin.
In 1996, she transferred her service to Lagos State and continued her upward trajectory in human medicine and hospital administration. She worked at Massey Street Children’s Hospital, Ita-Faaji, before being posted to Surulere General Hospital to pioneer the establishment of the Pediatrics Department—eventually rising to the position of Deputy Medical Director. She later replicated this pioneering success at Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle, where she once again established and strengthened the Pediatric Department while also serving as Deputy Medical Director.
Her leadership journey progressed to General Hospital, Ibeju-Lekki, Akodo, where she served as Head, Pediatrics Department and later became Medical Director/CEO. Her tenure was marked by remarkable institutional transformation. Through strategic reforms, efficient resource management, and focused capacity building, she elevated the rural hospital into a reputable facility offering world-class services, attracting government support and philanthropic investment.
Dr. Fadare currently serves as the Medical Director/CEO of Harvey Road General Hospital, Yaba, where she has implemented impactful reforms that strengthened service delivery, expanded patient access, and positioned the hospital as a one-stop, responsive healthcare centre. Widely respected as a team-oriented leader, she continues to mentor healthcare professionals while championing patient safety, quality care, and sustainable health systems.
She is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Medical Guild Association, and the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria. She also serves on the Stop TB Steering Committee under the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State, contributing to high-level advocacy and public health interventions.
A devoted family woman and an Assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Dr. Fadare exemplifies service, compassion, and integrity in both her professional and personal life.
It was in recognition of her accomplishments and contribution to national development in the sphere of Human Medicine and Health Facility Management that Dr. Folasade Oluseye Fadare was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Woman of Merit Gold Award.
