Mr. Hilary Damissah is an accomplished media professional, strategic communicator and information management expert whose career spans more than 25 years of groundbreaking work across print journalism, broadcast media, digital communication, and public affairs. Renowned for his intellectual depth and versatility, he has become a prominent voice in Nigeria’s media ecosystem—shaping national discourse, driving public enlightenment and championing digital literacy.
Damissah’s foundation in media excellence is strengthened by a BA (Hons) in English and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA), both from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He also possesses certifications in Basic Computer Appreciation and Applications. Hilary is a respected researcher and scholar with publications in reputable international academic journals such as the International Journal of Science and Research Archive and Global Scholarly Communications (GSC) Advanced Research and Reviews.
A dynamic leader in the country’s information ecosystem, he serves as the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Internet Group (NIG) and Executive Director of the Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development (CECAD). He is also the Director, Information and Strategy, Int’l Youth Congress, Nigeria which is a Charter of the IYC Inc. USA. He has also served on the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security’s Media Advisory Working Group and was a longstanding member of the Local Organising Committee for the annual eNigeria (now Digital Nigeria) Conference. He is Editor and Associate Producer of AIT DigiVation Network and Editor of Cyber Africa News.
A gifted writer and storyteller, he authored the non-fiction book Society, Conflicts and the Media (2024) and the novel Nemesis A666666666666666666666666/////////*t Cross Road (2010). His contributions to event and project management are far-reaching, having led major national programmes including the Nigeria Mobile Economy Summit and Awards (NIMES), the Nigeria Digital Innovation Conference (NDIC), and the Cyber Nigeria Forum (CNF). He also coordinates the Ghana/Nigeria Tourism and Culture Showcase, the first privately organised bilateral cultural forum in West Africa.
Mr. Damissah has delivered high-impact communication consultancy projects for major national institutions such as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), and NIPOST. In 2016, he coordinated Nigeria’s first official participation at CABSAT at the Dubai World Trade Centre, one of the world’s leading digital media and satellite shows.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has received several honours, including the Obafemi Awolowo Distinguished Alumni Award, the Techlife Impactful Media Personality Award, and the ACJ Media Legacy Award. A Fellow of the Institute of Information Management (FIIM, Africa), Member of Information Security Society Association of Nigeria (ISSAN), and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), he has earned national recognition as one of Nigeria’s most versatile voices in media strategy, cyber awareness, public affairs, and digital communication. His work continues to shape Nigeria’s media, ICT, and information landscape through innovation, advocacy, and professional excellence.
It was in recognition of his Sterling Contribution to Nation Building in the Sphere of Media and Information Management that Mr. Hilary Damissah was deemed worthy to be conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award.
