Gunmen have attacked the Old Oyo National Park in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State, with reports indicating that some people were killed during the incident.
Details of the attack remain sketchy, and the exact number of casualties had not been confirmed as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, saying security agencies were responding to the situation.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, alongside other security chiefs, was on the way to the scene, while tactical units had already been deployed to the area.
According to him, the police have mobilised tactical teams, officers of the Mobile Police Force, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit to the affected location to prevent a further breakdown of law and order.
