Gunmen have killed Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamọ of Agamọ community in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, police authorities have confirmed.
The Ondo State Police Command said the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 7:10 p.m.
In a statement issued in Akure, the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the report was received at about 7:50 p.m. from a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu.
According to the police, about six armed men stormed the monarch’s residence, forcibly abducted him, and fled the scene.
“The victim was later found a few metres away with gunshot wounds. He was confirmed dead at the scene,” Jimoh said.
He said the Divisional Police Officer, alongside tactical teams, immediately mobilised officers in collaboration with local security groups.
Personnel from Atuluse Security, local hunters, and the Amotekun Corps were deployed to comb nearby bushes and surrounding areas in search of the suspects.
“Monitoring and surveillance activities have been intensified across the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further breakdown of law and order,” Jimoh added.
The police said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the attackers, assuring residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.
