Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Onipan Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Francis Ani, for unlawfully harassing and detaining two residents.
This follows his alleged detention of Tunde Abass and one Kabir Mohammed on Friday, March 19 for recording and intervening in the illegal arrest of one Mohammed by men of the Division around 5 pm same day.
The commissioner, according to a statement by spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed an investigation into the case which found that the cops were unprofessional in the discharge of their duties.
Odumosu, was bitter at the gross violation of Abass’ human rights by the DPO and his men, saying the Command under his watch will never condone such unprofessionalism and abuse of power.
“The police boss took the decision on Wednesday, March 24, after looking at the report of the investigation into the viral incident of gross violation of Tunde’s human rights by the DPO and his boys,’ Adejobi said.
