The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land occupancy rights of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja over unpaid ground rent.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, and addressed to PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, the FCT Administration (FCTA) cited non-payment of land fees for 19 years as the reason for the revocation. The letter, signed by the FCTA Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, stated that the PDP failed to fulfill its financial obligations from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025.
“This is despite multiple publications in national dailies and electronic media since 2023, urging all allottees to settle their outstanding ground rents,” the letter read. It further referenced Section 28(5)(a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, justifying the FCTA’s decision to reclaim the land.
The notice confirms that the property, located at Plot No. 243 in Abuja’s Central Area, has now reverted to the FCTA, with authorities set to take immediate possession.
