The Nigerian Army has said that troops from its 1 Division in Kaduna on Wednesday arrested a notorious and wanted leader of a gang of armed bandits, Sani Ibrahim alias “Burtu” on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman while confirming the arrest, said “Burtu” was picked up when the troops rounded up the bandits in their camp in Rijana Forest.
He further revealed that the gang-leader had been on the wanted list of security agencies in Kaduna State for a long time adding that the clearance operation at the forest was necessitated by the rising cases of armed banditry and kidnapping along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
Brig. Gen Sani Usman also disclosed that items recovered from the bandits’ camp during the raid included one motorcycle and 25 goats.
