The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has said that with the current tempo of the commission’s activities, he fears the fight against corruption in the country is almost lost.
Speaking during an interactive session with media executives in Abuja on Wednesday, Magu also expressed the resolve of the anti-graft agency to remain undaunted in its crusade against corruption.
“The way we are going, we have already failed. I am telling you we have almost failed. It is almost lost. The battle against corruption is not only against evil, it is a poison,” Magu said.
“In the area of prosecution of cases in court, we are also making progress despite the antics of some persons accused of grand corruption to delay trial,” he added.
Magu also stressed that he had no personal grouse with anyone as his passion for doing what he deems right is due to his resolve to fight corruption in Nigeria to a standstill.
