Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has said that the work of his administration is not done until the country’s exit from recession improves the living standards of all Nigerians.
President Buhari stated this on Tuesday while receiving the President of Niger, Alhaji Mohamadou Issoufou at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.
In a statement signed and released by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, President Buhari expressed delight over the development and commended all managers of the nation’s economy for their hardwork and commitment.
“Certainly I should be happy for what it is worth. I am looking forward to ensuring that the ordinary Nigerian feels the impact. Until coming out of recession translates into meaningful improvement in peoples’ lives, our work cannot be said to be done,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders in the economy to expedite action in the implementation of the various policies fashioned to turn around the nation’s economy. He insisted that the 0.55 percent growth rate announced by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for the second quarter of 2017 would only be marginal if it has no positive impact on the businesses and welfare of Nigerians.
