The Lamborghini is the ultimate luxury car brand for the super rich. Lamborghini cars appear on the latest music videos and blockbuster movies, they are sung about and penned to the newest hip-hop lyrics. But why so much hype for a car? Lambos, as they are fondly called are design masterpieces. They are crafted by the best engineers and architects in the auto-industry.
Automobili Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Feruccio Lamborghini. An hard working Italian with an eye for design and performance, Lamborghini engrafted the behaviour of the bull in his cars which he would named them after. He passed on in 1993, 70 years after his company was founded.
To commemorate the centennial of its founder, Lamborghini unveiled the latest addition to its stable of bulls—the Centenario (meaning Centenary in English) at the 2016 International Geneva Motor Show. The car has a top speed of 350km/hr and goes 0-100km/hr in 2.8 seconds. Lamborghini claims it is a blend of two previous models, the Reventon and Veneno.
Lamborghini designed this monster with lots of aerodynamic factors being considered, using high-tech and air movement to enhance the power of its V12 engine. The Centenario is built entirely of carbon fiber with a dry weight of 1,520kg. The car has a four wheel drive dransmission and a 7-speed gearbox.
The ‘Perfection Forged’ theme Lamborghini assigned to this car makes it worthy of its price. It goes for a stunning $1.9 million (before taxes) and unfortunately, all 20 coupe and 20 roadster editions have been pre-ordered.
