It is almost certain that the United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union in a historic referendum whose results are still being announced at the moment. With more than 60% of the votes already counted, the LEAVE campaign is leading with 15.7 million votes representing 52% while the REMAIN side has 14.6 million votes or 48%.

Indeed, the UK media is overwhelmingly predicting that the LEAVE campaign has carried the day. As it looks, history is in the making not only in the United Kingdom but in Europe as a whole. It is one referendum that is likely to impact the entire world.

Analysts around the world are agreed that Britain’s exit from the European Union will trigger all manner of reaction. In every part of the world, a lot of ethnic nationalism and agitation for separation from current geo-politcal configurations will acquire louder voice and potency. Indeed, it is a new dawn in our world.
