Engr. Jacob Taiye Adeosun is a uniquely versatile and industrious Nigerian. His work straddles two professions namely engineering and insurance. He is at once a COREN registered engineer and a chartered insurance practitioner. He has made a huge mark in the area of industrial risk assessment and management.
Adeosun is today, President of Risk Managers Society of Nigeria. He is Past President of Risk Surveyors Association of Nigeria. On the engineering side, he is Senior Life Member, American Institute of Chemical Engineers; Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers & Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria; Member, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Governing Council Member and Fellow, Fire Protection Association of Nigeria.
Jacob was born on August 30, 1956. He graduated from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife in 1980. He attended continuing Professional Development Course at the University of Technology, Loughborough, UK in 1990. In 1993, he attended another Continuing Professional Development Course at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA.
In the year 2004, he earned the Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London. He went on, in 2005, to bag the Associate Diploma in Risk Management from the Institute of Risk Management, London.
Having graduated from the University of Ife in 1980, Jacob Adeosun’s working life began at the Qua Iboe Terminal of Mobil Producing Nigeria. There, he worked as Production/Operations Engineer with exposure to operational phases of on-shore and off-shore crude oil/gas injection production facilities.
In 1982, he joined Marine & Industrial Services Nigeria Ltd. as Sales Engineer and Head of Industrial Chemicals Department. Between 1982 and 1989, he worked as Chief Engineer, Technical Office, at SOIMI Nigeria Ltd/SOIMI Impianti, Italy. In 1989, he went on to work with Capital Equipment Company Ltd/Solar Energy Inc. (Now knows as Negris).
Since 1990, he has worked under the name, Industrial Risks Protection Consultants which is a member of The Marsh Group of the USA. Here, his primary technical responsibilities are: Efficient management of implementation of Risk Consulting Services for multinational and indigenous clients in the Upstream, Downstream, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Insurance Industries. Such risk consulting services depend on each client’s needs and include: Risk Assessments, Property & Business Interruption Risk Management Studies, Review of Existing Insurances, Design of New Insurance Package, Loss Assessment & Technical Investigations for Clients or Loss Adjusters, Claims Management, Valuation of Fixed Assets, Business Interruption & Disaster Recovery Plan, Boilers & Pressure Vessels Engineering Inspection. Alternative Risk Financing Study, Fire Protection Engineering, Insurance Warranty Surveys and Underwriting Surveys for Insurers, Reinsurers & Captives.
