Engr. Olumuyiwa Babatunde Olukoya is a Chartered Building Services and Project Management Consultant with almost three decades of professional practice. He is a man of excellence and great accomplishments.
Born in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on the 26th of February, 1966, he had his primary education at Abiola Jacob Primary School, Ibadan between 1971 and 1977.
He proceeded to Ijebu Muslim College Ijebu Ode for his secondary education between 1977 and 1982 and came out in flying colours in the West African School Certificate Examination.
He proceeded to the prestigious University of Lagos to study Electrical/Electronics Engineering and bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering in 1988. He equally bagged a Masters degree in Project Management (MPM) from the same University of Lagos in 2011. He has other professional certificates like CISCO Certified Professionals among others.
He started his professional career as a Project Engineer with Alhouse & System Electric Company Lagos (An Electrical Engineering Contracting Company) between 1988 and 1991. He thereafter joined one of the foremost engineering consulting firms in Nigeria, Messrs Interplan Engineers in 1991 and rose to the position of an Associate Partner in the year 2000.
He has established a number of companies to date including:
JoJo & Partners:- A leading indigenous Building Services Engineering Consulting firm with clientele cutting across all sectors of the economy, where he sits as the Principal Partner from year 2000 to date.
ETS Systems Ltd:- A vibrant Mechanical, Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering Contracting Company where he sits as the Chief Executive Officer.
JoJo Ventures:- A global warehousing and franchise company where he is the Managing Director.
Engr. Olukoya is a brilliant and efficient engineer who has an excellent and admirable character, a leader who is trustworthy, a good motivator, a highly confident personality and a good strategist.
Engr. Olukoya in close to thirty years of practice has been involved with the most iconic building and infrastructure projects in Nigeria amongst which are:
- Design and Supervision of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters, Abuja executed by Julius Berger Plc.
- Design and Supervision of 22–storey Rebuilding of the Central Bank of Nigeria Lagos Office executed by Julius Berger Plc.
- Design of Infrastructure Masterplan for both the University of Abuja and University of Uyo.
- Design and Supervision of Construction of National Hospital, Abuja.
- Design and Supervision of various TETFUND Projects in Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics and College of Education.
- Design and Supervision of a state-of-the-art building for the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) on Tigris Crescent, Abuja.
- Design and Supervision of Central Bank of Nigeria Branch Building in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
- Refurbishment of Deloitte Lagos Office at the Civic Towers, V/I Lagos.
- Refurbishment of Microsoft Lagos Office at the Civic Tower, V/I Lagos to mention but a few.
Engr. Babatunde Olukoya is a licensed Engineer registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is a registered professional with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC). He is a corporate member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE). He is a member, Association of Consulting Engineers in Nigeria (ACEN) and also a member of International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). He is a member of the International Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK and an Associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
Engr. Olukoya has travelled far and wide for overseas factory assessment tests and inspection, international engineering conferences and exhibitions, technical co-ordination meetings with foreign partners including WSP (SA) Pty of South Africa which his firm represents locally in Nigeria.
Engr. Olukoya is a generous giver, a mentor to aspiring engineers in Nigerian public and private institutions numbering over 30 in the past three years alone.
He is a member, Board of Trustees, United for Kids Foundation (UKF), a charitable organisation principally helping the less privileged children in Nigeria. They work with teaching hospitals and orphanages by providing them with financial assistance and upgrading of their facilities, and also public schools by providing educational materials, food, beverages, etc to alleviate sufferings encountered by children.
He is working with old students of his alma mater, Ijebu Muslim College, to revamp some of the decaying infrastructure in the school. He always donates generously and anonymously to educational and religious organisations and student bodies. He was the recipient, Award of Excellence, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Bariga Area Council in 2015.
Engr. Olukoya is married to Hajia Sekinat Iretiola Olukoya and Hajiya Olayemi Iyiola – Olukoya and he is blessed with three wonderful children –Hikmah, Ilyas and Sofiyat.
It is in recognition of his contribution to national development in the area of Engineering Services that Engr. Olumuyiwa Babatunde Olukoya is deemed worthy to be conferred with the Development in Nigeria Merit Award.
