The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said it destroyed a Boko Haram vehicle mounted with an anti-aircraft gun in Borno State yesterday.
A statement released by the force claimed the onslaught was carried out after reconnaissance aircraft spotted the vehicle.
The statement read: “The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) fighter jets yesterday successfully intercepted a group of Boko Haram terrorists (BHT) moving in an Hilux vehicle mounted with anti-aircraft gun.
“The armed vehicle was spotted at Talala in northern Borno by an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft on patrol, which then called for strike by combat platform.”
The report further said that on sighting the two Alpha jets that were assigned for the mission, the insurgents fled for cover under nearby trees while the vehicle was disabled.
Aerial footage of the operation, as revealed by the Nigeria Air Force, showed that the strike was successful and the vehicle completely destroyed.
