Chairman of the sacked National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has demanded that the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff vacates the party’s national secretariat at Wadata House in Abuja to avoid chaos.
The spokesperson of the caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, issued a warning to that effect while briefing newsmen this Monday.
The statement said that although Sheriff was declared as the authentic national chairman of the party by the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on February 17, he should wait until the Supreme Court makes its own pronouncement on the matter.
Adeyeye said that the Makarfi-led faction wants Sheriff and his group to vacate the party’s national secretariat to avoid a breakdown of law and order while accusing the Nigeria Police of favouring Sheriff in the ongoing empasse.
In a related development, the Ali Modu Sheriff faction has asked the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to jail the factional leader of the party, Ahmed Makarfi, as well as some of his loyalists.
Among those he wants sacked are the factional National Caretaker Committee secretary, Senator Ben Obi, Dayo Adeyeye, the publicity secretary of the faction, as well as former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
