Ife-crisis

The Federal Government has said that  the recent communal clash between the Yoruba and  Hausa communities in Ile-Ife,  Osun State had no link to ethnic sentiments.

This was disclosed to newsmen over the weekend by the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulramaan Dambazzau, shortly after his visit to the affected communities.

He revealed that upon his arrival from South Africa to ascertain the level and impact of the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, he came straight to Ife to get first hand information pertaining to the ugly incident.

“We went straight to communities where the crisis occurred and we saw the extent of damage and we met the leadership of the communities and we discussed with them. It is very clear that the issue is not about crisis between the Hausa community and Yoruba community in Ife,” Dambazzau said.

While  appealing  to various stakeholders to eschew violence, he assured  them that the Federal Government was on top of the situation and would ensure that all the culprits were brought to justice in due course.
