Super Eagles captain and former Chelsea FC midfielder, Mikel Obi, scored his first goal in the Chinese Super league, to lead his side, Tianjin Tigers to their first victory in the Chinese top flight.
Mikel broke the deadlock three minutes after the resumption of the second half with a sublime finish while an 82nd-minute own goal from Goran Milovic gave the home side a well-deserved 2-0 win.
While the 29-year old Nigerian was in action for the entire duration of the encounter, his compatriot, Brown Ideye fired blanks and was substituted by Wang Dong in the 65th minute.
The win by Jaime Pacheco’s men, leaves the Tianjin Tigers in the 9th position after garnering only four points in their first three matches of the season.
